Hidden camera detection

Hidden cameras can be concealed inside everyday objects such as clocks, chargers, smoke detectors and sockets. What hides them is the familiarity of those objects.

How are they found?

No single method is enough to find hidden cameras. Optical lens detection exploits the way a lens reflects light. RF scanning catches cameras that send video wirelessly. Network scanning lists Wi-Fi-connected IP cameras. Thermal imaging shows the heat of running electronics. For wired cameras linked to a recorder, physical inspection and NLJD are used.

Quick self-check tips

Darkening the room and slowly sweeping a phone torch across surfaces can show suspicious lens glints. You can check your router's interface for unknown devices on your Wi-Fi. These simple checks do not find every camera; not finding one does not mean "clean". A professional sweep is needed to be sure.

If you find a camera

Do not touch or move it. Photograph it and follow the steps on the what to do if a device is found page. Placing a camera in someone's private space is a serious offence.

How we work

  1. Confidential initial call

We talk on a secure channel away from the space and devices you suspect. We listen to what, where and why you suspect, and define the scope.

  2. Appointment and security

The sweep date is discussed only with the people who need to know and away from the space to be swept. No sensitive talk takes place in the space beforehand.

  3. Physical inspection

The space and its items are inspected visually: sockets, ceiling, lighting, electronics, furniture and newly added objects.

  4. Technical sweep

Devices are searched for with RF spectrum analysis, NLJD, thermal imaging, optical lens detection and line/network analysis.

  5. Findings and evidence preservation

If a suspect device is found it is not moved; it is photographed and its position and technical measurements recorded. The next step is decided with you and your lawyer.

  6. Report and recommendations

Method, equipment, findings, risks and corrective recommendations are delivered as a written report.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can phone apps find hidden cameras?

Partly. Apps catch only some camera types and can give false alarms or misses. A professional sweep is advised for a reliable result.

What if I find a camera in a hotel room?

Do not touch it, photograph it, leave the room and report to the police and hotel management. See the steps.
