Quick checklist
- Is there a written agreement and scope?
- Does it describe its methods clearly as lawful?
- Is a confidentiality agreement signed?
- Are fee and expense items written from the start?
- Is a sample report and the delivery format shown?
- Is it open to working with your lawyer?
- Does it give a KVKK-compliant notice?
- Does it show fake reviews as references?
- Does it promise a guaranteed result?
- Does it issue an invoice?
Red flags to avoid
Anyone promising phone tapping, message reading, access to bank or population records, or criminal or tax records both acts unlawfully and can make you party to an offence. Promises of a "definite result" and demands for the whole fee upfront are also serious warning signs.
Legal framework
As far as we know there is no separate professional law for private detectives in Türkiye; you therefore need to question how the provider works and which legal limits it accepts. Have your lawyer verify the current position on this.
Questions to ask in the call
"By what methods do you do this work?", "What do you not do?", "How do you deliver the report?", "Do you guarantee the result?", "How long are my data kept?" An honest service answers these clearly and comfortably. For our approach see the legal framework and confidentiality pages.
